Passion Fruit Margarita Ingredients
For the cocktail:
- Passion fruit juice: This is actually easier to find than you might think, and a lot of stores stock this Ceres Passion Fruit Juice in the juice aisle. We think this is the best product.
- Fresh passion fruit: This is optional, but it adds some textural intrigue to the cocktail, and they also just look cool. Plus, nothing beats the flavor of fresh passion fruit!
- Tequila: We used a reposado tequila in this recipe, but silver or blanco tequila is a widely available and easier to find substitute.
- Triple sec: Cointreau or any other type of orange liqueur is essential to achieving that classic margarita flavor.
- Simple syrup: You can make your own by combining equal parts sugar and water and heating until the sugar is completely dissolved. You can also use agave instead. Since tequila is made from agave, it stands in as a great sweetener in margaritas.
- Lime juice: freshly squeezed lime juice tastes the best and is worth the extra effort.
For the rim:
- Salt: kosher salt is our favorite choice for margaritas.
- Sugar: plain granulated sugar works here.
- Lime zest: this is optional if you're short on time, but it adds a lot of fresh flavor.
