Can you believe the end of June is already here? This is my first summer post-graduation, and time seems to be flying a whole lot faster without all of the free time between semesters. Don’t get me wrong, I’m used to busy summers. Now that I’m working full time, I find myself needing to force myself to go outside more!
For the next week and a half, we are heading to Ireland for a family vacation and I couldn’t be more excited! We’ll be spending a TON of time outside (we’re staying in a cute cottage in the countryside) and although it will be a bit colder than it’s been here, it will certainly be a nice change of pace.
Since we won’t be at home for July 4th, were preparing a bit early this year with these festive layered smoothies made with Love Beets beet powder!
Love Beets makes some incredible beet products (beet juice, packaged cooked beets & more). We especially love their beet powder since it’s so easy to throw into a smoothie. Beets are one of the best veggies to add to smoothies (in our opinion), and they actually pair quite well with berries!
Plus, in case ya haven’t heard, beets are pretty awesome. Beets speed muscle recovery and enhance athletic performance, so we throw them into smoothies or salads post-workout. (Pro-tip: pair beets with tart cherry concentrate for an ultra-powerful recovery duo!)
Want to incorporate more beets into your diet? Love Beets makes it easy!
How to make the perfect layered smoothie
Layered smoothies can be a bit tough to nail down. The key is making them thicker than a typical smoothie, but thinner than the consistency you’d use for a smoothie bowl.
Additionally, don’t pour straight from the blender; if there’s too much force, the layers will start to mix together. Instead, try using a spoon to gently add each layer. Once you get the hang of it, it’s a quick and easy way to pull together an impressive & fun smoothie! Perfect for 4th of July Instagram pics.
Wherever you’ll be for July 4th, enjoy spending time with family and friends!
