Black Heart Daiquiri

This bewitching cocktail is made extra spooky with the addition of activated charcoal powder! Perfect for your upcoming Halloween bash - adults only, of course.

Black and purple halloween cocktail on a stack of old books with dry ice coming out of top

We firmly believe that kids shouldn't have all the fun on Halloween. We'll let them have the candy, and keep this beautiful Black Daiquiri for ourselves! Perhaps served alongside these Vegan Twix Bars or Almond Joy Candy Bites. (Okay, forget what we said about giving them the candy. We'll take the cocktail and the chocolate!)

The dry ice is of course not required. We like to go all-out when it comes to holidays, and we weren't about to hold back when it comes to our cocktail. If you do opt for the *extra* touch here, remember that the dry ice is so cold that it can burn. Use gloves to handle!

Description

Activated charcoal gives this spooky drink its dark hue!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 oz grape juice
  • 1 oz añejo rum
  • 1 oz white rum
  • ¾ oz simple syrup
  • ¾ oz fresh lime juice
  • ½ oz charcoal powder
  • 5 blackberries
  • Optional: dry ice (note - be super careful handling dry ice and never touch it with bare hands!)

Instructions

  1. Muddle blackberries directly in cocktail glass.
  2. In a cocktail shaker, combine all ingredients except dry ice. Pour in about a half cup of regular ice, then shake for about 30 seconds. Strain into cocktail glass.
  3. Enjoy immediately or add in a small chip of dry ice for smoking effect.

Notes

Dry ice is available at many large supermarkets - you may have to call around and ask to make sure they have it.
