Peach butter is apple butter's summer counterpart, and it's absolutely delicious. This easy peach butter is perfectly sweet, smooth, spreadable and super concentrated in peach flavor. It's mostly a hands-off recipe that comes together in a slow cooker. Once it's done, can some for later, and use it on toast, yogurt, oatmeal and more.

A Great Way to Use a lot of Peaches
We recently bought a big batch of peaches (50 pounds!) and peach butter is probably the best way to use up a large quantity in one go. You can water bath can a bunch of it to enjoy throughout the year, or give a few jars out to friends and family!
We peel our peaches (more on that below), then cut them up and cook them with a bit of sugar, lemon juice, and cinnamon until they're super soft. Then we blend them up and continue cooking until the mixture has thickened into a spreadable peach butter.
The best part? You don't have to stand over a stove, because it's made in a slow cooker. (No way I'm standing at the stove in this crazy heat wave!)

Key Ingredients Needed for Peach Butter

- Peaches: Fresh, ripe peaches are best here, but you can also use frozen if desired. If your peaches aren't very ripe, you may want to add a bit more sugar, otherwise your peach butter could be very tart.
- Sugar: This recipe actually contains quite a bit less sugar than the standard peach butter recipe. We like it with less sugar, so you get more peach flavor, but if you would prefer a sweeter butter, add an additional ¼-1/2 cup. For richer flavor, you could also use brown sugar instead of white.
- Cinnamon: If you don't have any cinnamon sticks, you can add in 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon.
How to Make this Peach Butter Recipe
- Bring a large pot of water to a boil and prepare a large bowl with ice water. Score an "x" on the bottom of each peach, cutting just through the skin, then boil each peach for about 45 seconds.

- Immediately transfer the peach to the ice water and leave it there for a few minutes, until it's completely cool. You should be able to easily peel off the skin starting from the "x".

- Once the peaches are peeled, carefully dice and remove the pits. (They will be very slippery!)
- Add all of the peaches, sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon sticks and vanilla to a slow cooker and stir.
- Cook on low for about 3 hours, or until the peaches are very soft, then use an immersion blender to blend until smooth.

- Continue cooking on high for another 3-5 hours, stirring occasionally, until it reaches your desired consistency. If it's taking too long to thicken, you can transfer the peach butter to a pot on the stove for about 20 minutes over medium heat to further reduce/thicken.

- Let the peach butter cool completely before transferring to jars/containers. It will last for about 3 weeks in the refrigerator.

- Serving suggestions: This easy peach butter is perfect slathered on top of toast, bagels, waffles, english muffins, or mixed into yogurt or oatmeal. It's also delicious on top of ice cream, paired with cheeses on a charcuterie board, or even added to a savory glaze for chicken, pork or turkey!
- For long term storage, you can follow a water bath canning procedure. Make sure your jars and lids are completely sterilized!
- Leave the lid of your slow cooker slightly ajar after blending the peaches. This allows steam to escape so the butter can thicken. If you don't, it will take ages.
- If your peach butter still isn't quite as thick as you'd like, you can transfer it to a pot over medium heat on the stove and simmer for 15-30 minutes, stirring often, until it's thick enough.
