Why buy store-bought mango sorbet when you can make your own at home with just 3 ingredients and way less sugar in just a few minutes? This is one of our most popular recipes of all time and for good reason – it's SO easy to make and absolutely delicious! This recipe is also naturally dairy free and to make it extra fun, you can serve the sorbet in mango halves.

Why buy sorbet when you can make it?
Talenti's mango sorbet is one of my favorite frozen treats, but there's SO much added sugar. Although sugar does improve the consistency of sorbet, mango is already so sweet that we wanted to see if we could make it at home with less sugar, and without an ice cream maker.
The result was incredible! Just super ripe frozen mango, some lime juice for a boost of bright acidity, and a little honey or agave to improve the consistency.
We first posted this recipe on Instagram back in 2023 and it has since gotten over 100 million views. In some ways, this simple recipe really changed our business, and eventually led to the start of our viral series: Better Than Store-Bought.
We love this recipe so much that it even made it into our debut cookbook! We also included 2 other super easy sorbets – peach raspberry and strawberry lemonade.
Give this one a try ASAP this summer. Just keep it in your freezer and enjoy a scoop whenever the craving strikes! (Even my one year old is obsessed with this stuff.)
Key Ingredients Needed for Mango Sorbet

- Mango: Because we like to serve these in mango halves, we use fresh mango, dice it, and then freeze. You can skip this step by just using store-bought frozen mango!
- Lime juice: This adds some much-needed acidity to cut the sweetness. For less noticeable lime flavor, use half the amount in the recipe. If you like yours extra tart (like me), add up to ½ cup.
- Agave or honey: I like using agave because the flavor is more neutral, but honey works great too. If your mango is super sweet (or if you don't want extra sugar), you can leave this out altogether.
How to Make Mango Sorbet
- If you want to serve these in mango halves, slice the mango around the pit on both sides and use a spoon to remove the fruit. It took about 4 mangos to get 5 cups of diced mango. Transfer the diced mango to a sheet pan lined with parchment paper and freeze until frozen solid (2-4 hours). Alternatively, you can skip this step and just use store-bought frozen mango.
- Add all ingredients to a food processor or blender and blend until completely smooth. This may take a minute or two since the mango is frozen. Stop to scrape down the sides in between blending to make sure everything is incorporated.

- Enjoy right away for a soft serve style, or scoop into mango halves and return to the freezer until set (2-3 hours).

Top Tips from the CK Test Kitchen!
- Let the mango thaw slightly before blending. Sometimes if it's too frozen, it can be difficult to blend, especially if the mango isn't very ripe. You can either leave the frozen mango out at room temp for a half hour before blending, or just pop them in the microwave for 30 seconds.
- Look for tree-ripened mangos at a grocery store that specializes in really great produce. We have a store near us called Nino Salvaggio and they have the BEST produce selection. We recently found tree-ripened mangos there (mangos that stay on the tree longer than most and are extra sweet and rich) and they really took this mango sorbet to the next level. It's worth the splurge!

Description
Why buy store-bought mango sorbet when you can make your own at home with just 3 ingredients and way less sugar in just a few minutes? This is one of our most popular recipes of all time (it even made it into our debut cookbook!). It's SO easy to make and absolutely delicious! This recipe is also naturally dairy free and to make it extra fun, you can serve the sorbet in mango halves.Â
Ingredients
- 5 cups frozen mango
- ¼ cup freshly squeezed lime juice
- ¼ cup agave or honey
Instructions
- If you want to serve these in mango halves, slice the mango around the pit on both sides and use a spoon to remove the fruit. It took about 4 mangos to get 5 cups of diced mango. Transfer the diced mango to a sheet pan lined with parchment paper and freeze until frozen solid (2-4 hours). Alternatively, you can skip this step and just use store-bought frozen mango.

- Enjoy right away for a soft serve style, or scoop into mango halves and return to the freezer until set (2-3 hours).
Notes
You can adjust the lime juice and agave/honey to your preference! I personally love it with lots of lime juice (â…“ cup) and just a tiny bit of sweetener. If your mango is perfectly ripe, it may be naturally sweet enough on its own.
