Description

We love this fragrant, fresh take on a classic margarita with blueberry juice, mint, and lime. These blueberry margaritas are a perfect, refreshing companion at a summer dinner party.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 4 oz blueberry juice
  • 3/4 oz freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1/2 oz agave or simple syrup
  • 1 1/2 oz silver tequila
  • 1/2 oz Cointreau or other orange flavored liqueur
  • Fresh mint sprigs for garnishing
  • Lime slices
  • 3-4 blueberries

Instructions

  1. Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice. Add 4 oz blueberry juice, 3/4 oz lime juice, 1.5 oz tequila, and 1/2 oz Cointreau to the ice-filled shaker. Pour in 1/2 oz agave or simple syrup.
  2. Shake for about 15 seconds. Pour blueberry margarita over ice and garnish with a sprig of fresh mint, a few slices of lime, and some fresh blueberries.

Notes

Be sure to shake thoroughly, especially if you elect to use agave instead of simple syrup, as it can stick to the ice or to the sides of the shaker when it's poured in.

Cointreau or triple sec will work well, and don't feel the need to use your best tequila. Since this is a mixed drink, the cheaper stuff will do.

In the event you can't find blueberry juice, you can try this cocktail with other sweet and tart juices, like pomegranate or cranberry.
