Description
This Blue Hawaiian cocktail combines rum, vodka, fresh citrus, coconut milk, and Blue Curaçao for its trademark color. If you're looking for the perfect easy tropical drink, look no further!
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 ounces vodka
- 1 1/2 ounces white rum
- 1 ounce Blue Curaçao
- 6 ounces pineapple juice
- 2 ounces lite coconut milk
- 1 ounce simple syrup
- 1/2 ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1/2 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice
Instructions
- Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker filled halfway with ice. Shake vigorously for 10-15 seconds.
- Divide between two glasses with ice, and serve with an orange slice and/or pineapple wedge and a maraschino cherry.
Notes
Coconut milk vs. cream of coconut: A traditional Blue Hawaiian is made with cream of coconut, a thick, sweetened coconut cream with a consistency similar to a syrup. We personally prefer to use coconut milk in this recipe, which makes for a slightly less sweet cocktail, and is typically easier to find (and more cost effective!). That being said, you can really use either in this recipe – it mostly depends on how sweet you like your cocktails.
No Blue Curaçao? Sub with Cointreau or Triple Sec and a few drops of blue food coloring.
Garnishes: For a traditional Blue Hawaiian garnish, opt for a pineapple wedge, a maraschino cherry and a cocktail umbrella. We also love adding in an orange wedge for extra color.
