Description
These easy, summery blackberry mojitos come together in just a few minutes. It's a simple spin on a classic mojito, with the addition of fresh blackberries for extra freshness and sweetness.
Ingredients
- 6 blackberries
- 6 small or 4 large mint leaves
- 1 oz freshly squeezed lime juice
- 2 tsp sugar
- 2 oz rum
- Club soda or sparkling water for topping
- Ice
Instructions
- Add the blackberries, mint leaves, lime juice and sugar to a highball cocktail glass. Use a muddler to gently smash and mix together the blackberries and mint. Don't over-muddle, otherwise the mint will become bitter.
- Add in the rum.
- Fill the glass with ice, then top off with club soda or sparkling water and stir.
- Optional: garnish with fresh mint and more blackberries.
Notes
What to do if you don't have a muddler: A muddler is essential to making a mojito in order to extract the flavor from the mint and dissolve the sugar. A wooden spoon is probably the best alternative. You can also use any kind of wooden dowel or even a traditional mortar and pestle.
Chill your cocktail glasses in the freezer while you make your drink to keep it extra cool while sipping. (This is especially handy on a hot summer day!)
Mojitos are traditionally served in a highball glass. It's typically served on the rocks with a straw.
