Description

This Strawberry Martini combines the flavor of fresh, ripe strawberries with smooth, crisp vodka to create a fruit-forward twist on a classic cocktail.

Ingredients

Units Scale

Cocktail:

  • 3 fl oz vodka
  • 1 fl oz raspberry or strawberry liqueur
  • 2 fl oz strawberry simple syrup (recipe below)
  • 1/2 fl oz freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 2 fresh strawberries for garnish

Strawberry simple syrup (makes 4 fl oz):

  • 6 oz diced strawberries (a heaping 1/2 cup)
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar

Instructions

  1. Add the water, sugar, and strawberries to a small saucepan over medium high heat and stir until the sugar is dissolved. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium and simmer for 5 minutes.

  2. Mash the berries into a pulp, then remove from heat and let the mixture sit for 15 minutes. Mash again to release as much juice from the strawberries as possible.
  3. Strain the simple syrup into a small bowl. Use the back of a spoon to press the mixture through a small fine mesh sieve until you've extracted all the liquid.
  4. Add vodka, strawberry liqueur, strawberry simple syrup, and lime juice to a cocktail shaker half filled with ice. Shake for 10 seconds. Strain the mixture between two glasses.

Notes

Makes 2 cocktails.

1 fl oz = ~30mL

Be sure to strain your simple syrup thoroughly to prevent any seeds from making it into your finished cocktail.

Feel free to use raspberry or orange liqueur in place of strawberry liqueur.

Short on time? You can find pre-made strawberry syrups in stores or online.
