Description

This spicy jalapeño mango margarita is a spicy, fruity, and tropical treat. Mango and a jalapeño simple syrup team up to create the perfect spicy-sweet combination. You can enjoy it on the rocks, frozen and tangy, or extra spicy!

Ingredients

Units Scale

On the rocks:

  • 8 fl oz unsweetened mango juice/nectar
  • 3 fl oz reposado tequila
  • 1 fl oz freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1 fl oz Cointreau
  • 1 fl oz jalapeño simple syrup

Frozen version:

  • 1 1/2 cups frozen mango
  • 1-1 1/2 cups crushed ice
  • 3 fl oz reposado tequila
  • 1 fl oz freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1 fl oz Cointreau
  • 1 fl oz jalapeño simple syrup

For the glasses:

  • 2-3 tablespoons of Tajín seasoning
  • Water, agave or lime wedges to rim the glass

Instructions

Rim the glasses:

  1. Set up two plates: one with a bit of water or agave, and another with a thin layer of Tajin. Dip the rim of the glass into the water/agave, and then into the Tajin. For on the rocks version, add in a few ice cubes.

On the rocks:

  1. Add the mango juice, tequila, cointreau, simple syrup and lime juice to a cocktail shaker half-filled with ice and shake well.

  2. Strain the margaritas between two glasses, garnish with a slice of mango or a lime wedge, and enjoy.

Frozen version:

  1. Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth and creamy. Pour into rimmed glass and enjoy.

Notes

1 fl oz = 30 mL = 1 standard shot glass

Tajín: Tajín is a delicious Mexican seasoning blend of chili peppers, lime and salt. It's spicy, tangy and so versatile! We rimmed the glasses with Tajín for a spicy, tangy kick that pairs perfectly with these mango margaritas! Feel free to stick to regular margarita salt if you prefer.

Jalapeño: If you can't/don't want to make the jalapeño simple syrup (recipe here), you can instead slice a jalapeño into several small slices, and muddle them in the glass before you pour in the margarita mixture. Note: If you're not using the jalapeño syrup, make sure to swap with regular simple syrup or agave nectar.

For a mocktail version, omit the tequila and orange liqueur, substituting in ½-1 ounce of orange juice.

Big batch cocktail: This cocktail is great for entertaining and can easily be made in a pitcher ahead of time! Just quadruple the listed quantities and stir well again before serving.
