Description
This frozen espresso martini recipe comes together in just a few minutes. Made with strong coffee, coffee liqueur, vodka, simple syrup, and vanilla extract it’s a refreshing spin on classic espresso martinis perfect for summer!
Ingredients
4 ounces freshly brewed espresso or strong coffee, frozen into 1 ounce ice cubes
2 ounces coffee liqueur (we used Kahlua)
2 ounces vodka
1 1/2 ounces simple syrup
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups ice
Optional: 1 1/2 teaspoons unsweetened cocoa powder
Instructions
- Add espresso ice cubes, regular ice, coffee liqueur, vodka, simple syrup, vanilla extract and cocoa powder (if using) to a high speed blender.
- Blend on high speed for about 30 seconds, until the mixture is slushy. Don’t over blend or it will melt too much.
- Serve right away. Optional: top with whipped cream, a few coffee beans and a sprinkle of cocoa powder.
Notes
Letting the liquid mixture cool before blending is essential. It prevents the ice from melting too quickly, which can water down your cocktail.
For an extra cold frozen espresso martini that stays slushy, chill your martini glasses in the freezer for 10-15 minutes prior to making your drinks.
If you don’t want to brew your own espresso or coffee, use cold store-bought coffee instead. Just note that the flavor probably won’t be as strong.
