Description

Tart blackberries, sweet peaches, smoky tequila, and a spicy serrano-infused simple syrup create an unmistakably unique and delicious drink that's packed with well-balanced flavor.

Ingredients

Units Scale

For each cocktail:

  • 2 oz silver tequila
  • 1 oz serrano lime simple syrup (recipe below)
  • 3/4 oz freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 3/4 oz freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1/3 cup diced peaches (make sure they are super ripe)
  • 10 blackberries
  • 3 oz club soda for topping

Serrano lime simple syrup:

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 Serrano peppers, sliced into rounds
  • Zest from 1 lime

Instructions

  1. Add sugar and water to a small saucepan over medium heat. Add in serrano peppers and lime zest and bring to a simmer. Simmer for 2-3 minutes, until sugar is dissolved, then remove from heat and let sit for 15 minutes. Strain the simple syrup and let cool.
  2. Add peaches, blackberries, simple syrup, lemon juice, and lime juice to a cocktail shaker and muddle well. Press mixture through a small fine mesh sieve into a liquid measuring cup, removing as much juice as possible. (If your peaches aren't ripe enough, you can blend the mixture for a few seconds before straining to extract more juice).
  3. Add 1 tbsp of chopped peaches and 2-3 blackberries to each cocktail glass and muddle. Fill each glass halfway with ice.
  4. Fill the cocktail shaker halfway with ice. Pour the blackberry peach mixture back into the cocktail shaker and add tequila. Shake vigorously for 10-15 seconds, then strain into cocktail glass. Top with sparkling water or club soda and enjoy.

Notes

If you’d like your cocktail spicier, add an extra serrano to the simple syrup, or add an extra 1/2oz of simple syrup to the cocktail.

If you’d prefer your cocktail less spicy, remove the seeds from the serrano before adding to the simple syrup.

Make sure your peaches are super ripe, otherwise you won’t be able to get enough juice out of them. You can also use a nectarine in this recipe.

Tequila: We used a silver tequila in this cocktail, but we imagine other varieties (like añejo) or even mezcal would be equally delicious.
