July 4th is right around the corner! We’re preparing for the festivities with a few of our favorite summer recipes. Appetizers, not-boring salads, grilling recipes, festive desserts – you can find it all here! Plus, everything is vegan (and mostly gluten free). Happy 4th!
Appetizers and Salads
Have you ever seen a more festive July 4th salad? I think not! Fresh, seasonal berries are the perfect pair for leafy greens and tangy vegan feta.
Romaine gets a major facelift in this light summer side dish. Grilling helps bring out a smoky flavor and irresistible crunch.
The easiest possible crowd-pleasing appetizer! Gather a bunch of colorful produce, crackers, cheeses and dips (hummus, of course) and let guests graze to their hearts’ content. (Bonus if the produce is red, white & blue!)
We’re all about salads that don’t really taste like salad. (If ya know what I mean.) This salad is packed with grilled corn, black beans, avocado, mango, cherry tomatoes and a jalapeño lime vinaigrette.
Both options utilize a vegan ricotta spread as the base and seasonal produce as toppings. Sweet: stone fruit, honey and herbs. Savory: tomatoes, basil, balsamic and corn.
Every BBQ needs a good slaw. This isn’t your grandma’s recipe – it’s mayo free and packed with flavor!
This refreshing gazpacho has just the right amount of sweetness and spice. We created the recipe for our friends over at Love Beets – grab some of their pre-cooked beets at your local store and whip this up in no time!
Cocktails & Cold Drinks
If you make one cocktail this July 4th, make it these insanely delicious frozen margs. Warning: it’s really hard to stop at just one, so prep for multiple batches.
The perfect large-batch drink for a crowd. It’s easy to throw together – just make sure you have a good bottle of wine on hand.
A great non-alcoholic cold drink (although if you want to add vodka, we won’t tell anyone). Our version is sweetened with agave instead of cane sugar.
Cocktail or dessert? We don’t really know, but either works. These are a huge hit in our family – we always make a double batch!
We created this recipe as one of the signature cocktails for my wedding last summer. It involves making homemade strawberry-infused vodka, but if you don’t have the time, make strawberry simple syrup instead!
Cauliflower steaks couldn’t be easier to make, and your vegan/vegetarian guests will majorly appreciate a main dish.
Veggie burgers don’t hold up quite as well as regular burgers on the grill, but you can make these ahead of time in the oven! Toppings are the best part – don’t forget avocado, spicy mayo and homemade quick pickles.
Is pizza traditional for July 4th? No. Should you still make it? Yes, of course. This Vegan Buffalo Cauliflower Pizza will work, too.
The ultimate summer dessert. Buttery graham cracker crust, fudgy brownie layer, toasted marshmallow topping…what more could you ask for?
Cool down with homemade vegan ice cream. If you don’t load it up with extra cookie dough chunks, you’re doing it wrong.
Buttery crust, tart berry filling – the perfect July 4th dessert! And SO much easier than making an actual pie.
Trying to keep things lighter? This fruity watermelon berry salad with a lime mint dressing is always a good bet.
The perfect vegan alternative to cheesecake. This gorgeous tart is light, tart, refreshing and easy to make ahead of time.
It really doesn’t get any easier than these chocolate-dipped figs! Simple, yet refined – our kind of dessert!
