Overhead of green cocktail with key limes and flowers

It's finally Saturday and this has been our most productive week in quite some time, so we think that we deserve these cocktails! These Key Lime Cucumber Gin Cocktails have it all - tangy, slightly sweet, earthy and refreshing.

We've had some fun lately experimenting with St. Germain (an elderflower liqueur) and Chartreuse in cocktails (a liqueur made with a variety of herbs, plants and flowers). Chartreuse has a particularly unique (read: strong) flavor, a stunning green hue, and an interesting back story.  Chartreuse originates from a small town in France. Monks actually first created the bright green herbal infusion as early as the mid-eighteenth century. The recipe (originally used as medicine) has long since been kept a carefully guarded secret. A single monastery in Voiron, France still produces chartreuse. The tonic contains a wide variety of herbs and flowers, giving it a kick that's easily distinguishable from other liqueurs. You certainly can't confuse it by sight - in fact, if you're wondering, the color Chartreuse was named after the liqueur.

Now you know just about everything you'd ever need to about Chartreuse. So go enjoy your weekend and make a great chartreuse cocktail at home instead of heading to an overpriced bar.  Start with this Key Lime Cucumber Gin Cocktail. And why not add one of our signature wedding cocktails to your offerings?

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 oz gin
  • ½ oz St. Germain
  • ½ oz Chartreuse
  • 3 oz fresh cucumber juice
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice
  • 4 mint leaves
  • Ice

Instructions

  1. We use a juicer to make fresh cucumber and lime juice. If you do not have a juicer, you can blend cucumber in a high speed blender and then strain juice into separate bowl with cheesecloth or sieve. Squeeze lime juice separately.
  2. Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker filled with ice and shake well.
  3. Strain into glass (don't pour mint leaves into glass) over ice and garnish with lime & fresh mint (optional). Enjoy!
