These healthier frozen Pitaya Blueberry Margaritas are the perfect drink for a crowd. Add everything to a blender, give it a whirl and say a toast!

These beautiful pink margaritas are made with frozen pitaya (aka dragon fruit) and frozen blueberries. They couldn't be any easier to make, and they're surprisingly low on sugar!
Our family is HUGE on frozen margaritas. (These frozen watermelon margs are a fave!) Since we always have at least 8 people in our house (joking, but also kinda not joking), they're one of the easiest, quickest cocktails we can whip up.
With 8 people in the house with absolutely nowhere to go, we've been making a LOT of cocktails. Happy hour now starts around 3pm, and that's just fine. No judgement during these unprecedented, crazy times. Agreed?!
Frozen blender margaritas and daiquiris have been our go-to cocktails. My brother, Bryce (who just turned 21 last summer), has been our head bartender. He just throws a bunch of random stuff into the blender and it always tastes amazing.
There are probably 2 shots of liquor in each drink, but who's counting?
(I'm joking. Kind of. I promise we're responsible adults.)
These pitaya margaritas can be easily customized with different frozen fruits. You probably don't have frozen pitaya laying around, but if you do, enjoy these as is!
We love the vibrant, gorgeous pink hue of pitaya. A few years ago, you may have only found pitaya (dragon fruit) on the menu at your local açai bowl spot, but nowadays it's widely available at many grocery stores. Check the frozen section – it usually comes puréed in small 3.5 oz packets or cubes.
Pitaya has a relatively mild, sweet flavor that's somewhat of a cross between kiwi and pear. You may be able to find it fresh at specialty grocery stores, or you can use it in powdered form (our go-to).
We use pitaya powder as natural food coloring in all sorts of desserts and baked goods. Check out these pretty pink Coconut Easter Eggs or this IG-worthy pink chia pudding! We also love mixing it into vegan buttercream for naturally pink frosting.
Frozen Fruit Substitutions
No frozen fruit is off limits. Except maybe bananas, that would be gross.
Here are my favorite combinations when we don't have pitaya on hand:
- Raspberry + strawberry: tart, sweet and easy to find!
- Blueberry + strawberry: blueberries on their own don't work as well, but strawberries add the perfect touch of sweetness
- Mango + pineapple: the BEST!
- Strawberry + Mango (or pineapple): basically an alcoholic smoothie
How to make frozen fruit margaritas
It's best to let the fruit defrost for about 10-15 minutes before adding to the blender. Otherwise, it can be tough to blend and you'll make a huge mess. Alternatively, microwave the fruit for 30 seconds to soften it quickly.
Next, add your frozen fruit to a high speed blender along with freshly squeezed lime juice, tequila, Grand Marnier (or another orange-flavored liqueur), agave nectar and a few ice cubes. Blend away and enjoy!
If you so desire, rim your glasses with lime and salt before serving. Cheers!
