Refreshing is an understatement when talking about these five different infused water combinations. Featuring delicious citrus infused waters with flavors like strawberry, cucumber, lime, and mint.
I've never had an issue with drinking too little water - if anything, I tend to over-hydrate at times (and consequently spend a lot of time looking for public restrooms) - but as the weather starts to heat up, it's always a good reminder to stay hydrated! For those that don't love drinking water as much as I do, infused water can be a great way to keep you on track.
When we first started infusing water often, we were a bit concerned about the food waste factor, but we've come up with a few ways to get around that. First: after refilling the pitcher several times, we drain the fruit and throw it in a smoothie. It's a bit less flavorful since it's been sitting in water for so long, but it's never negatively affected the quality of our smoothies!
Second: If you have some produce that's on the verge of spoiling that you know you won't use otherwise, throwing it into your water is a great way to extend its life. Because we spend our entire day styling & cooking with fruits and veggies, we often end up with a surplus and either juice it or infuse our water.
These are a few of our favorite combinations we've tried over the years. We hope you enjoy!
1. Rainbow Citrus Infused Water
This was one of our most-liked photos of all time on Instagram...we're really taking #EatTheRainbow to the next level! We simply sliced up citrus in descending size order - grapefruit, cara cara oranges, blood oranges, limes and lemons. You can obviously leave a bit more room for water when you make this citrus infused water at home 😉
2. Mango + Strawberry + Pineapple + Lime Infused Water
This tropical-inspired combination is a winner! Our only suggestion would be to go light on the pineapple - too much will make your water taste a bit tart.
3. Strawberry + Cucumber + Lime + Mint Infused Water
My personal favorite. We almost always have all of these items in the house, so it's definitely a go-to. Strawberries add just enough sweetness, limes add a bit of zing, and cucumbers and mint really enhance the freshness.
4. Peach + Basil + Blueberry Infused Water
Peaches (or nectarines) + blueberries + basil = summer in a pitcher! Peaches and basil are truly a phenomenal flavor pairing. Even our youngest family member loved this!
5. Lemon + Fig + Rosemary
Come late summer/early fall, we love adding fresh figs to this sophisticated combo. It's refreshing, herbal and slightly sweet!
